10 commandments of being a recruiter #2... Seize the day

seize the dayLike many businesses there is a shelf life to what we do in recruitment.   If you are better in the mornings, then make your calls to candidates then, share your energy with them, and demonstrate your passion for the role and the company you are recruiting for.  Me, I’m an evening man.  The quiet time when you’re on the way home, that’s when I want to speak to you. As a wise yet northern recruiter called Chris once told me.  “Time kills all deals.”  If you are expecting an offer, prep everything up front so that it is an easy yes for employer and candidate.   Chris was right.  In recruitment you need to move with pace and conviction.  Candidates change their mind, situations change people fall out of love or just move on.

If you were putting off THAT call until tomorrow, do it now.  Pick up the phone.
